A man in his twenties has been left with a nasty leg injury after a collision between his motorbike and a car at a notorious M1 exit.

The accident happened at about 3.55pm on Saturday at the Exit 57 overpass in Oxenford, which also serves the Hope Island area.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man sustained a “significant leg injury” in the incident. He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the car involved was taken to Robina Hospital, also in a stable condition. Information was not immediately available regarding their injuries.

Exit 57 has been controversial with locals since a $25m upgrade that added a number of lanes, with reports of issues caused by confusion among some motorists who are unfamiliar with the junction.

The area has been scene of frequent collisions, including a three-car crash on Tuesday morning.
