Woman trapped after car and tram crash on busy Gold Coast street
A WOMAN was rescued from her car by firefighters after it collided with a G-Link tram this evening, closing a busy Gold Coast street.

A WOMAN was rescued from her car by firefighters after it collided with a Gold Coast tram this evening.
At 8.15pm emergency services were called to the corner of Lawson and Scarborough Street in Southport.
It is understood the car smashed into the tram, however it is unknown whether or not the tram was moving at the time.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old woman, was trapped in the car for half an hour before firefighters managed to free her.
She was taken Gold Coast University Hospital with neck pain in a stable condition, while all 22 passengers of the tram, plus the driver were not injured.

TransLink says G:link services are suspended both directions between Southport and Surfers Paradise North stations due to a traffic incident.
Customers can expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
Trams will still be operating from Helensvale to Southport stations and Broadbeach South and Cypress Avenue stations.
Buses have started operating to transport customers between Southport South and Surfers Paradise North stations.
