Nightmare traffic at Tugun Bypass and across the Gold Coast

A TRUCK crash has closed one lane of the M1 tonight.

UPDATE: A TRUCK crash has closed one lane of the M1 tonight. It is believed it hit a car while travelling southbound at about 9.35pm.

The car reportedly has been pushed into the guardrail near the Ormeau exit.

Emergency services are on their way but it is believed no one is trapped in their vehicles or seriously injured.

EARLIER:

A LANE of the Gold Coast Highway near Broadbeach has reopened after a two-car crash earlier today.

The crash at the corner of Australia Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway happened about 11am.

Two female patients, the drivers of the vehicles, have been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The southbound lane has been reopened and congestion has eased.

Tugun traffic was at a crawl this morning following a lane closure

SEVERE congestion is causing delays across the Gold Coast this morning with traffic banked up for kilometres along several sections of the M1.

Emergency maintenance works were suspended in the Tugun tunnel after southbound morning commuter traffic stretched back 5km to Palm Beach due to a lane closure.

On the northern end of the Coast, southbound traffic on the M1 from Helensvale to Gaven is gridlocked following a multi-vehicle accident.

No one was seriously injured in the crash.

There is also reports of congestion on the M1 at Reedy Creek.
