Firefighters have cordoned off a Gold Coast service station after reports of a suspected gas leak from an underground valve.

Police discuss gas leak in Portsmith, Cairns

FIREFIGHTERS have cordoned off a popular service station in Hope Island after reports of a gas leak.

Queensland Fire & Emergency Services confirmed they were called to the 7-11 on Hope Island Rd over a suspected leak from an underground valve.

One emergency crew is currently on scene monitoring the situation until technicians arrive.

Police are also assisting to keep motorists away from the service station.
