Gold Coast traffic: Accidents cause rough start to Monday commute

Two people have been hospitalised after separate accidents on Gold Coast roads this morning.

IT has been a rough start to the Monday morning commute with two people hospitalised in a separate accidents on Gold Coast roads.

Police and paramedics were called to a two car crash on the intersection of Bermuda St and Nerang Broadbeach Rd at Mermaid Waters just after 5am.

A car had rolled, trapping a man in his 40s inside for about 20 minutes.

Crews managed to free the driver and paramedics treated two people for non-life threatening injuries.

The trapped man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) in a stable condition.

The incident closed two lanes of Bermuda Street for almost an hour.

Meanwhile paramedics also treated a driver of a single vehicle accident in Southport.

Crews were called to the eastbound lanes of Benowa Rd, near Joden Pl just before 5am following reports of a car crashing into a bus stop.

A person was taken to GCUH in a stable condition with minor head injuries.
