M1 Gold Coast crash: Police seek driver of black Hyundai hatchback after motorbike rider critically injured

Police have revealed the make and colour of a small hatchback seen after a hit and run on the M1 which has left a motorbike rider critical.

POLICE are searching for a black Hyundai hatchback seen after a hit and run on the M1 yesterday left a motorbike rider in a critical condition.

The rider remains in hospital as officers continue their manhunt for the driver involved.

Emergency services were called around 2.30pm after reports a motorcyclist lost control near Exit 45 at Eggersdorf Road in Ormeau.

Critical Care Paramedics and the High Acuity Response unit treated the 20-year-old man at the scene before he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening pelvic, abdominal, and lower limb injuries.

A Queensland Police spokesman said they are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dashcam vision of the area at the time to make contact.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
