GC600 road closures between Southport and Surfers Paradise already affecting commuters

IN just four days the roar of V8 engines will ring out across Surfers Paradise, but this morning it was the grumble of commuters, stuck in a GC600 traffic jam.

The Gold Coast Highway between Surfers Paradise and Southport has already been reduced to one lane each way through the main part of the track.

Meanwhile areas around the busy suburb which are still two lane will be reduced to one to make way for dedicated public transport lanes in the next few days.

Police traffic directors are already in place along the Gold Coast Highway and there ate hefty fines for those who ignore signage, or who drive in lanes marked for bus and taxis only.

Friday will be the worst day for commuters who will be sharing the reduced lanes with thousands of V8 Supercar fans heading to the track.
