Construction of new overpass at Exit 54 at Coomera forges ahead

ELECTRICAL and drainage work will start on the new loop ramp to Days Road/Foxwell Road at Coomera this week.

CONSTRUCTION of a new overpass at Exit 54 at Coomera is forging ahead.

The congested intersection has been a major headache, particularly during school drop-off and collection times when hundreds of parents from at least four local schools have had to deal with major traffic jams.

Work will continue behind barriers within the Coomera Interchange (Exit 54) upgrade project site this week daily from 7am to 5pm.

The work includes:

New overpass: Bridgework, footpath and pavement construction and electrical work at the approaches to the new bridge will continue.

Days Road: Public utility relocations on the northern side of Days Road will continue and will have no impact on local utilities.

Foxwell Road: Earthworks (eastbound), electrical and public utility relocation work will continue.

New M1 northbound on-ramp: Retaining wall construction and earthworks will continue. Drainage work (off-road) will continue for a new culvert inlet.

New M1 loop-ramp: Electrical and drainage work will start on the new loop ramp to Days Road/Foxwell Road.

New M1 northbound off-ramps: Construction of retaining walls, earthworks and electrical work will continue.

Abraham Road: Landscaping work will continue.

Old Pacific Highway and new car park and service road for Coomera Cemetery: Pavement work near the cemetery and new roundabout to the cemetery will continue. Traffic control will be in place on the Old Pacific Highway during these works.

Whitewater Way: Works in the centre median along Whitewater Way will continue.
