A young child was taken to hospital with severe leg injuries after being struck by a bus in the heart of the Gold Coast.

A young child was taken to hospital with severe leg injuries after being struck by a bus in the heart of the Gold Coast.

Paramedics were called to the incident at Cavill Ave in Surfers Paradise just before 5pm.

It is understood the child, of primary school age, sustained serious leg injuries.

Two ambulance bike response teams are on scene, with a critical care paramedic and senior operations supervisor also responding.

Paramedics took the boy to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
