Boy treated by paramedics after vehicle and pedestrian incident on Yawalpah Rd, Pimpama

A primary school-aged boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle on a busy Gold Coast road.

A YOUNG boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle on a busy road in Pimpama this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Swan and Yawalpah Rds at 3.31pm after reports a car had hit the boy.

The child was confirmed to be a student of Pimpama State School.

He was treated on scene before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with a suspected broken leg and abrasions to his head, chest and abdomen.

All westbound traffic on Yawalpah Rd is being diverted away from the area.

Both Pimpama State School and Pimpama State Secondary College have offered a guidance officer for children who witnessed the incident.

Work to widen Yawalpah Road to four lanes was only completed earlier this week.
