A “prolonged exposure to porn” has been blamed for a man’s alarming stalking behaviour against several women.

Sean Ladi Suk, 22, appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on seven counts of unlawful stalking after a year-long police investigation into anonymous, sexual calls made to seven women.

The court heard the offences began in 2022 and intensified in 2023, only ending in 2024 when police traced the “weird and creepy” calls coming from a private number back to Suk and arrested him.

One woman received over 30 calls from the man over the three-year period, another received 16 calls.

One victim became particularly distressed when the unknown caller said “hi, I’ve got a naked picture of you” and began naming some of her female cousins.

The worst of the offending occurred when Suk published an ad online advertising one of the women as an escort and posting her real phone number and pictures - including of her in school uniform.

“The thing that takes this to the next level and makes it extremely disturbing is that it’s so hateful,” Magistrate McLennan said of the fake escort advertisement.

“It’s reflective of someone who’s got an amount of hate towards women.”

The court heard the man had no criminal record, no mental health issues, was gainfully employed, pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity, and came from a “good family”.

According to the psychologist’s report, the stalking behaviour came about due to the man’s “early and prolonged exposure to pornography”.

“It appears to have lead to your acceptance of sexual harassment, negative attitudes towards women, a sense of sexual entitlement and unrealistic expectations,” Magistrate McLennan said.

When arrested, the man was replayed recordings of his phone conversations by police.

“Looking back on it, it is shameful and disgusting,” Suk told the psychologist, who’s notes were read out in court.

“The officers replayed the phone calls. Just sitting there and hearing my voice and how I was speaking to girls, I didn’t want to be in the room at all.

“I couldn’t look at my parents, my dad especially... I didn’t want them to see me as this type of person.”

Magistrate McLennan chose not to convict Suk of stalking - meaning the charges will not appear on his permanent criminal record.

Suk was sentenced to a three year probation order.

Suk also offered financial compensation to his victims, $1500 to two women, and $500 to the others.
