Tickets for the new-look Mount Isa Rodeo have gone on sale, and they’re 50 per cent cheaper than last year.

Another big change is the rodeo has scaled back to a three-day format, instead of the four-day schedule.

Daily entry prices for the three-day event are $50 per adult, $20 for children and a full three-day pass is $120 per adult.

These prices have been set by the rodeo’s new community board, who took over the event when it financially collapsed in 2024 and entered voluntary administration.

In comparison, the 2024 ticket prices were set at $99 per day for adults and $260 for a full access four-day pass.

Mount Isa Mines Rodeo Community Board Chair Mark ‘Tommo’ Thompson said he hoped fans and riders from all over the country would make the big trip out in August.

“Australian rodeo riders are among the best in the world, and with a growing number of juniors and female competitors, the future of the sport is brighter than ever,” Mr Thompson said.

Unpowered camping sites are also available.

The rodeo is running Friday August 8 - to Sunday August 10, with country music singer Luke Geiger performing on Friday and Saturday night and the award-winning Indigenous Rodeo Championships riding on Sunday.
