A TOWNSVILLE child psychologist wrote a new children’s book to help them deal with the recent devastating floods.
Carolyn Seri said she had noticed a higher incidence of children with severe anxiety after the floods.
“Definitely a lot of families in affected areas are reaching out for help,” she said. “Certainly lots of organisations and families are asking for help.
Ms Seri put in many hours illustrating her book The Sunshine After The Flood.
“It uses the little characters I use in my child psychology practice,” she said.
“They all have their own complex personalities base on what a child could be experiencing.”
The mother created a program called ZingPinMe which aims to help children with a whole range of issues, from bed wetting to internet safety.
Ms Seri said the message she wanted her book to pass on was that through resilience and support, children can get through challenging situations.
She said Fuji Xerox printed out 100 copies of The Sunshine After The Flood for free, with all proceeds going to GIVIT’s North Queensland flood recovery campaign.
The Sunshine After The Flood can be purchased from zingpinme.com for $19.99 including postage.
