North-West Queensland richest, poorest schools revealed

A Mount Isa college with three campuses has been identified as having generated the highest gross income in North West Queensland.

A Mount Isa college with three campuses has been identified as having generated the highest gross income in North West Queensland.

Spinifex State College - Mount Isa Education and Training Precinct in Parkside secured more than 93.4 million over the five-year period ending 2022, the most recent school-funding statistics reveal.

That equates to a total income per student of $22,782 in 2022.

The figures were the result of an independent analysis of school financial records from the MySchool website.

Spinifex State College have been contacted for comment.

The region’s second richest school was Good Shepherd Catholic College, also in Mount Isa, with a gross income of $56.6 million and a total gross income per student of $28,397 in 2022.

In third place was Doomadgee State School which accrued $38.3 million with a total gross income per student of $23,330.

The figures include all fees, charges and parental contributions as well as State and Federal Government funding and any other private sources over the five years from 2018 to 2022.

It does not include any deductions for capital works or debt servicing.

The analysis does not include special schools or schools that did not have complete financial data in MySchool for one or more of the five years.

Bedourie State School at Bedourie had the lowest gross income of any school in the North West Queensland region, making just $2.6 million over the five-year period.

Its total gross income per student in 2022, however, was $51,232.

Urandangi State School at Piturie had the second lowest gross income of any school in the North West Queensland region making $2.7 million over the same period.

Its gross income per student, however, was $49,936 in 2022.
