Material remains outstanding in relation to the murder case of a respected and well known Indigenous adviser who was found fatally stabbed in a Railway Estate home.

It was alleged that 39-year-old Bruce Martin was stabbed in the chest in July last year and was tragically declared deceased at the scene as first responders attempted to provide CPR.

Candis Nicole Greer, Daniel John Hook and Damen Scott Leaney who are alleged to have played a part in the Aurukun man’s murder had their charges mentioned in Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Ms Greer who was represented by Tracey Brown from Resolute Lawyers has been charged with murder, deprivation of liberty, entering a dwelling with intent at night and threatening violence.

Mr Hook who has been charged with identical offences was represented by Phillip Crawford and Mr Leaney who has been charged with the same offences with the addition of obstructing police and contravening an order was represented by Jamie Scuderi who appeared on behalf of Fisher Dore Lawyers.

Police prosecutor Mr Wood said there was still evidence that needed to be sent to the defence lawyers.

“There’s still material outstanding,” he said.

“Last (mention) it was estimated for June 23 for DNA associated statements and telco evidence.”

He said due to an officer being on leave there was no further update.

All three defence lawyers agreed an adjournment was suitable to wait for a further update on evidence.

Magistrate Richard Lehmann adjourned the matters to July 16.

The defendants remain in custody, no pleas have been entered.
