The Townsville community can join together on Monday for the Great Barrier Reef Clean Up at Pallarenda.

The Free Townsville City Council event was previously known as the Great Northern Clean Up and Mayor Troy Thompson said everyone was welcome to attend.

“The Great Barrier Reef Clean Up is a great chance to spend some time with friends or family while keeping our outdoor spaces pristine,” Cr Thompson said.

“Clean up bags and gloves will be provided, so just make sure you have closed-in shoes and sun safe clothing for the morning event.

“Participants will be able to have complimentary refreshments and native plants will be available on a first-come first-serve basis to take home as a thank you from Council.”

If you can’t make it along to the Great Barrier Reef Clean Up, you can register your own event by visiting Tangaroa Blue’s website at https://tangaroablue.org/

The clean-up runs at Walter Nisbet Park at Pallarenda on Monday from 8.30am – 10am and for more information go to Council’s What’s On Townsville website.
