Kirwan man left stunned by $200k Instant Scratch-It win

A Townsville man is set to surprise his girlfriend with a trip of a lifetime after he won a massive top prize on an Instant scratch-it.

The Kirwan man was left stunned after he won $200,000 on a $15 crosswords book ticket which was purchased at Cignall Mountview on Bamford Lane.

After an official from The Lott confirmed his prize, he was overcome with excitement about the life-changing sum of money.

“Words can’t describe how I’m feeling right now. I feel pure happiness,” he said.

“I never thought I’d see this much money in my life. It’s crazy.”

The man said he and his partner had always enjoyed sharing a Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket, with it becoming somewhat of a tradition over the years.

“I don’t think she’ll see it coming at all,” he said.

“We’ll be paying off a bit of our mortgage once we see the money.

“Funnily enough, we’ve never gone on a holiday together, so I’d love to surprise her with a trip.

“It’s always been a dream of ours to travel.”

In the 2024 financial year, 143 Australians became instant Scratch-its top prize winners taking home a total of $12.12 million combined.
