The man charged with accessory to the murder of a Townsville woman in Condon last year, has revealed he will apply for bail.

The man charged with being an accessory after the fact in the murder of a Townsville woman intends to seek bail next time his case is heard.

Kayla Golding was found bleeding out with a life-threatening neck wound on the footpath of a Riverway Drive unit block about 7.20pm on May 21 last year.

She was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition where she later died.

Jamie Alan Mcauliffe, 40, was eventually charged with being an accessory while his co-accused, Chante Lee White, 30, was charged with murder.

They have spent over a year waiting on a brief of evidence which included witness, officer, scientific, forensic and pathology statements.

Updating the court on the brief’s progress, police prosecutor Tim Madsen confirmed all material had been received and it just “needs time to be put together” before it was disclosed.

He expected it to be handed over within a fortnight.

Concerned with the significant length of time his client had already spent in custody, defence lawyer Nick Douglas said this latest adjournment would stretch Mcauliffe’s time behind bars from 480 to 500 days.

Magistrate Ross Mack agreed that it had been “too long”.

He scheduled Mcauliffe’s bail application for September 27.
