North Queenslanders took to the polls today to decide who will hold the seat of Herbert. Follow the results from the polls live here.
The incumbent, Phillip Thompson, has a strong foothold in the seat, securing more than 47 per cent of the first-preference votes in the 2022 election.
The electorate takes in three council areas, including all of the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and part of both the Townsville and Hinchinbrook councils.
Previous to the 2022 election, the seat was considered a bellwether seat, meaning it followed who was in government.

There are eight candidates running in the 2025 election, including Mr Thompson, Martin Brewster (Trumpet of Patriots), Felicity Cole (People First), Edwina Andrew (Labor), Chris Evans (Greens), Felicity Roser (Family First), Ross Macdonald (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation) and Darryn Casson (Katter’s Australian Party).
