A man who is accused of assaulting two men in their 60s and robbing them in South Townsville has been taken into custody.

Police have arrested a man after an alleged violent robbery in South Townsville.
The 45-year-old man is accused of approaching two men in their late 60s on Palmer Street at 11:50pm on Tuesday night before assaulting them and taking one of their wallets.
The man who had his wallet stolen was taken to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries.
Police arrested the Gulliver man a short time later in Townsville City and charged him with robbery and serious assault.
He was scheduled to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
