A Townsville hospitality and retail venue has been transformed into the city’s newest events space.

Flinders Lane opened its doors as the city’s latest event and function venue last week.

Owner Martin Locke said the move would last for the remainder of the year and throughout 2023, and was designed to bring life into the laneway, while the long-term vision for the site was constructed.

“My hope for Flinders Lane has always been for it to be a place where memories are made for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, a place that gives Townsville something to be proud of now and in the future,” Mr Locke said.

“Every great city needs to have a great and memorable CBD experience that gives locals and visitors a reason to come into the city in the daytime and at night.”

He said the Covid-19 pandemic had hit hospitality businesses hard, and it had impacted their search for tenant partners to join Annee’s Caphê Sua Da.

Flinders Lane has two event-ready spaces on the upper level including the Flinders Cocktail room, and the Flinders Executive Room and Balcony.

Both function rooms are decked-out with industrial chic finishing, and built-in audiovisual features.

In the opening week, two events were hosted at the site, attracting about 200 guests – the first official function being the 50th anniversary celebration of global professional services company, GHD Townsville.
