Townsville’s emergency services have been kept on their toes responding to multiple incidents over the weekend including a grass fire, car fire, and multiple crashes.
Firefighters who were in place for a permitted burn near Wenlock St, Rasmussen, on Saturday morning needed to be diverted at 10.15am to extinguish a large grassfire which had sprung up nearby at Santal Drive.
The Santal Drive fire was extinguished at 11.18am, and rural firefighters remain at the scene of the controlled burn.
Townsville police also called in the Queensland Fire Department to tackle a car fire at the corner of Cross St and Ross River Rd, Mysterton at 10.40pm on Friday.
Police investigations into identifying the vehicle and the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Earlier that night, paramedics and police were called to a two vehicle crash in Garbutt at the intersection of Meenan St and Dearness St at 8.56pm.
One adult female patient in her 20s and an infant patient with minor injuries were taken to Townsville University Hospital for further treatment.
Police subsequently issued a traffic infringement notice to a man in his 20s for failing to stop at a stop-signed intersection.
Early on Saturday morning, a two-vehicle crash in Cluden on Racecourse Road and Lakeside Drive was reported at 4.07am.
Paramedics treated a male patient with minor leg injuries before transporting him to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
