DriveIt NQ is looking to plaster $1.5m in sponsorship down its pit straight in a final funding push for the motorsport hub.

The long-awaited multipurpose DriveIt NQ facility at the Lansdown Eco Industrial Precinct in Calcium has been 20 years in the making and aims to provide facilities for professional and recreational racing, driver education, emergency services training, and product testing.

The organisation is looking to fill hundreds of 3m ad spaces along the facility’s pit straight, and have put a call out to businesses who want their company’s name in front of motorsport enthusiasts.

The ad-board spots are available for $8800 or $7500.

The money from the four-year ad spot will go towards building the safety wall along the pit straight. Once that’s built, events at the track will get faster, bigger and DriveIt NQ will really kick into gear.

Any business that purchased an ad on the pit straight was supporting a “world-class’ facility, and would have regional, national and international eyes on their business, DriveIt NQ chief executive Pat Driscoll said.

“We’ve had some early adopters and their contribution has been greatly appreciated.”

An investment would also mean a permanent plaque on a wall of champions at the track.

Mr Driscoll said the not-for-profit organisation was fielding calls from southeast Asian organisations about having events at the track.

One major hang-up for the project has been a direct road right to the facility, however Mr Driscoll said that could soon be sorted.

“We’ve been taking interest from southeast Asian events, we need the final road in for that, but we’re working with council on that and we’re close to a solution.”

If a business signs on for a four-year advertising space, the four-year clock starts when that final road is completed.

In May more than 120 revheads were able to test out the track, but speeds were capped at 130km/h.
