‘Device was inert’: Police update on Kelso bomb incident

Investigations are continuing into a suspected homemade bomb found near a burnt-out car in Kelso. Police are appealing for anyone with information or relevant vision to contact them.

Investigations are continuing into a suspected homemade bomb found near a burnt-out car in Kelso.

The discovery was made around 6am on October 7, when fire crews responded to a ute on fire on Riverway Dr, past the Ross River Dam car park.

A member of the fire crew believed the device resembled a home made bomb, and police established an exclusion zone and closed the road to all traffic.

By 11.50am, a crime scene had been declared and the Explosive Ordinance Response Team (EORT) were investigating.

On Thursday, October 31, Queensland Police said investigations are still ongoing into the origin of the device, but they could reveal the device was inert when it was approached by the EORT.

Anyone with information and relevant vision is urged to contact police.
