Crime scene declared following reports of armed person in Condon, Townsville

Police have taken two men into custody after responding to reports of gunfire during a disturbance in the suburbs of Condon this morning.

Police have taken two men into custody after responding to reports of gunfire during a disturbance in the suburbs of Townsville.

Officers were called to a disturbance at a residence on Cassowary Crescent in Condon at around 3.50am on Wednesday after receiving reports of a person armed with a firearm.

Initial information indicates unknown offenders entered the home and demanded property from the occupant, before fleeing.

It was reported during the incident that a firearm was discharged but no one was physically injured.

Upon arrival, police located the occupant of the house and another man at the scene, both of whom are currently assisting with inquiries.

Police said the second man was taken into custody in relation to another matter.

A crime scene has been established at the Condon residence as investigations continue.

While police comb through the scene for evidence, signs of a struggle from outside the house were minimal — a broken bottle was found in the driveway, and a white bed sheet was seen hanging from a window.

Its understood there is no active threat to the public.
