It been a time of change for Little Pegs Café with a new location, fostering new customers and a new coffee machine but the quality service and perfect coffee has remained the same.
Little Pegs owner Ben Richardson said it was a no brainer when he was asked to move Little Pegs from its former location hidden amongst a group of shops to near the start of Charters Towers Road in a prominent position.
He said loyal customers had followed the move four months ago but the business had also gained more business-orientated clientele.
“The business next door (old location) was Kingsbury Harcourts who were moving. They grew in staff and needed a new location. The owner was kind enough to ask me to come down and stick with him.
“It was sort of a no brainer, moving from being hidden in a car park to now being established on the road front.
“A lot of clientele is followed down, which is good. It was a little bit different, but more business orientated, considering we were more residential, but a lot of the customers are stuck around, which is nice.
“But we’ve found a lot of new customers down here as well. A lot more businesses down this end of the street. So people who would like to come to us can now find it a bit easier.”
He said from Monday to Friday it was predominately business clientele but on weekends it was loyal customers and drive bys.”
Richardson said their aim was to keep the menu simple with a range of both hot and cold beverages with the breakfast wrap and muffins the most popular food items which also included toasted sandwiches, brownies, banana bread, and vegemite scrolls on the weekend.
“The brekkie wraps just a nice, basic bacon and egg, hash brown and source. The muffins change each day go.
“There is the standard chocolate chip through to our white chocolate, raspberries, coconuts and lemon.”
Richardson said the aim of Little Pegs was to have a nice place for people to hang out.
“Just somewhere that they can take me 5-10 minutes of their day, refresh themselves, and then get going again.”
He said the secret for a good coffee was the way it was made.
“I enjoy making the shots a little bit finer. So get all the good crema out of it, all the good cooked sugars, caramelized sugars, and then little bit quicker to finish.”
Little Pegs Café at 82 Charters Towers Road at Harcourts Kingsbury and is open Monday to Friday 6am to 12noon, and 6am to 11am Saturday and Sunday.
