Brisbane Girls Grammar School and Brisbane Grammar School are the top performing NAPLAN schools in Brisbane North, an exclusive analysis of data has found.

The analysis of NAPLAN results revealed the schools which consistently performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests between 2017 and 2021.

BGS, in Spring Hill, had higher Year 5 average yearly results than any other school in the Brisbane North region, scoring an average of 2838.3 each year.

“It’s recognition of the work and attitude of our students and the exceptional teaching that our teaching staff provide” deputy headmaster, teaching and learning, Steve Uscinski said.

“We are exceptionally proud of our students”.

Rainworth State School in Bardon was the second best for the region with an average score of 2814.0, while Indooroopilly State School was the third best with an average score of 2790.3.

The top performing Year 9 school was BGGS, in Spring Hill, where the average yearly result was 3223.0 over the five years.

BGS was the second best for the region with an average of 3213.0, while All Hallows’ School in the CBD was the third best on 3154.8.

“NAPLAN is one piece of evidence that gives us an insight into how our students are tracking and allows us intervention to help those students who may have gaps,” Mr Uscinski said.

“Always try to achieve your personal best — if you’re doing that the assessment will take care of itself.’’

To determine how each school performed between 2017 and 2021, their average scores for each year were combined and the yearly average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled in either year, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects in either year were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government‘s MySchool website.
