Only the Liberal Party had a plan to deliver cost of living relief to Tasmanians, Liberal candidates stressed as their federal election campaign wrapped up in Launceston on Friday.

The Liberals have run a big-spending campaign in Tasmania, where the party currently holds two of the five House of Representative seats and has its eyes on a third in Lyons.

Senate candidate Clare Chandler said cost of living had been the primary issue raised by voters with Liberal candidates on the campaign trail.

“If you want to see 25c a litre off your fuel, then tomorrow you have to vote for Mal Hingston, Susie Bower and Bridget Archer.

“Only the Liberals have a plan for Tasmanians. We want to see more investment in irrigation. We want to see more investment in the critical infrastructure that enables Tasmanians to get around our state like the Bass Highway, we want to see investment here at the Launceston Airport, where we are committing $27m for terminal upgrades.

“I note that that commitment has not been matched by the Labor Party here in Tasmania.

“If you want to see cost of living relief. If you want to see 25c a litre off your petrol, then tomorrow you have to vote Liberal for Bridget Archer, Susie Bower and Mal Hingston.”

Bridget Archer said she was confident she had done all she could to ensure her return as the member for Bass.

“We’ve been working every single day,” she said.

“I’ve been working hard for the people of Bass for the last six years and the last five weeks has been no different to that.

“That’s what I’ll continue to do right up until six o’clock tomorrow and then it’s a matter for the voters to decide.

“I’m encouraging people to vote for an experienced voice here in Bass that’s going to stand up for them, that’s going to fight for them every day and deliver.”

Susie Bower came close to snatching Lyons from Labor in the 2022 federal election. She says she has worked hard in the interim bridge the gap.

“I‘ve been around now four years, going around the Lyons electorate, listening to all the aspirations of all the different communities, there’s a quite a few in Lyons,” she said.

“I hope I’ve been able to show the people of Lyons, is that I can deliver for them,

“We’re the only team that has a solution and has a plan to get Australia back on track and particularly around the cost of living, which continues to be the number one issue that everyone is telling us about and that’s why we are looking at the 25 cents a litre, up to $14 every time you fill the tank.

“If you want cost of living measures to be enacted for Tasmania and for Australia, then you must vote Liberal tomorrow.”
