RACT management has vowed to help affected staff “explore options” following an ongoing restructure process that is expected to result in multiple job losses.
Just days after RACT announced it was dumping long fuel partner United Petroleum over a recent migrant worker underpayment scandal, chief executive Mark Mugnaioni said the organisational shake-up was aimed at streamlining how the member-based organisation conducted business.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering value to our members and personalised services across Tasmania, we are evolving the structure of some of our teams,” Mr Mugnaioni said.
“A small number of roles will be changing, and we are working with those impacted to explore options, including the opportunity to take on new positions within RACT.
“Our people are at the core of RACT, and we deeply value the contributions of all our employees.
“We are committed to supporting our people affected during this transition and will continue to ensure that RACT can continue to meet the needs and expectations of our members.”
Last week RACT said it would not renew its current agreement with United, after an underpayment scandal which cost the owners of the brand’s Sandy Bay and Kingston outlets $180,000 in federal penalties.
“We are working through our transition plan with United and will provide an update once this is finalised,” a statement published on RACT’s website read.
“For now, members will continue to receive their 6c per litre discount.”
Australia’s Fair Work Ombudsman secured penalties against both KLM Foods Pty Ltd, and Mr Loveleen Gupta, after four service station console operators were cheated of $20,000 pay in late 2021 and early 2022.
