A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Melbourne man Rachid Rizki, after he failed to appear for his Wednesday court date in Hobart over drug possession and trafficking charges.

Mr Rizki, 53, faces 12 charges in the Hobart Magistrates Court relating to the trafficking and sale of drugs as well as seven counts of allegedly using false information to obtain plane tickets.

This included seven flights between Hobart and Melbourne Tullamarine Airport between June 8 and July 8 this year.

Court documents show Mr Rizki is also charged with one count of trafficking methylamphetamine and cocaine, allegedly dealing with proceeds of crime and allegedly possessing seven tablets of controlled drug diazepam at a Sandy Bay property on July 9 this year.

It is alleged that Mr Rizki was in possession of two passports, two driver’s licenses and personal ID cards in the name of another person at the Sandy Bay property.

Magistrate Jackie Hartnett issued a warrant for Mr Rizki on Wednesday after he was absent from his first court appearance on these matters.
