Stunning Gold Coast home named Queensland winner

Inside the Gold Coast’s award-winning Burleigh home, and other top projects that have taken out Queensland’s top spots.

A “coastal-luxe”-inspired beachhouse and never-ending pool claimed some of the top honours for the Gold Coast at the Master Builders Queensland Housing and Construction Awards.

Fifty-eight of the state’s finest builders were recognised via a broadcast awards ceremony on Friday. Gold Coast builders made up a large portion of the projects showcased.

PJH Constructions’ Bajo El Sol, a modern pastel family home based on Burleigh Beach, won the People’s Choice Award.

The home inspired by tourism hot spots such as Ibiza, Mexico, Palm Springs and Greece garnered thousands of votes, thanks to its unusual and luxurious design.

The win tops a great year for the Burleigh company. It also won the Individual Home $951,000-$1.25 million section for the home.

PJH director Paul Harms won the Ron McMaster Memorial Award for Excellence in Craftsmanship at the Gold Coast H & C Awards.

A home at Sanctuary Cove was recognised for having the best residential pool in Queensland.

JB Pool Construction took out the prize for the Bayview Walk build, which featured a 17m curved-edge infinity pool, while remaining efficient and low maintenance.

Master Builders regional manager Adam Profke said the Gold Coast regularly featured at the state awards, thanks to its workmanship and creativity.

“There was a real mixed style across the winners, which showed the variety of the work on the go,” he said.

“These awards are a chance to celebrate a sector which has been doing it tough during the pandemic.”

The winners will now go on to the national awards.
