Students trapped after bus and truck crash in Victoria

A number of students are feared injured after a bus and truck collided west of Melbourne on Tuesday afternoon, as fearful parents rush to the chaotic scene.

A school bus and a truck have crashed in Exford (9NEWS)

A school bus carrying more than 40 students and a truck have crashed, with more than 20 school children taken to hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Exford, near Melton, west of Melbourne following a collision at about 3.40pm. 

Pictures from the scene show a bus rolled over on its side trapping passengers. It's understood at least six students needed rescuing from the wreck. 

An adult and 21 children were treated by paramedics and transported to hospital after the collision.

“Six patients have been transported to hospital with serious traumatic injuries and another 16 injured patients taken to hospital in a stable condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

“Paramedics are assessing a further 25 people at the scene who at this stage do not appear to require transport to hospital.”
