Harvey Norman CEO Katie Page, a longtime supporter and backer of the awards, last year highlighted it as a great way to give back to the Gold Coast which holds a very special place in her heart.

“We consider the Gold Coast our second home. With the Gold Coast Women of the Year awards and the fabulous women we have every year coming through, you see they are talking about the same thing. They are from very diverse backgrounds but are talking about leadership in the same way and it’s bringing people around you, sharing your values, contributing to society so for me to be able to be part of this night, to be leading a company like Harvey Normal that supports women in this way is extraordinarily important.”

She adds: “Our Gold Coast community has the vibrancy and opportunity of a major city, coupled with, uniquely, the care and attention to the individual normally only found in a country town.

“The women of the Gold Coast are at the heart of this compelling combination. The community they are responsible for creating is magnetic. We can see it attracting families and investment to the Coast. The growth of our city is thanks to these women. The Gold Coast Bulletin Women of the Year Awards is our chance to recognise the women in our midst for making the Gold Coast such a wonderful lifestyle choice. Please take the time to think about the women in your life, consider their enormous contribution and thank them by nominating them in the 2023 Gold Coast Women of the Year awards.”

Destination Gold Coast Interim chief operating officer Rachel Hancock said supporting the awards was about putting a spotlight on women setting new benchmarks, demonstrating innovation, and working tirelessly to keep the Gold Coast top of mind for visitors.

“Women make up nearly 70 per cent of the visitor economy workforce,” she said.

“The Stars of Tourism (category) is the platform to unashamedly call out and recognise all the incredible women who are part of our tourism industry in any and every capacity.

“It’s not every day that you get to celebrate, but we are certainly proud to partner on this campaign to recognise and acknowledge the very talented women in tourism.

“There is an ecosystem built around our visitor economy which is made up of an industry of industries – and that’s why it’s so important we come together to celebrate this great city and its people.”

Star Gold Coast chief operating officer Jess Mellor added: “The Star is so proud to be a partner of the Gold Coast Women of the Year awards and to have supported this outstanding initiative on an annual basis since it was launched in 2019.

“The awards are strongly aligned with our values and focus on creating positive opportunities and outcomes for women, as well as recognising some amazing achievements.

“At The Star we pride ourselves on the diverse and inclusive nature of our workplace, and we recognise the important contribution every one of our talented team members makes to our business through their unique backgrounds and perspectives.

“Every year I’m blown away by the number of brilliant and impressive women who I learn about in the Gold Coast community, whose efforts and successes span such a wide range of areas and industries.

“These awards do an incredible job of bringing their accomplishments to light.”
