THE boss of Sanctuary Cove has over 30 years of international management experience. Having worked in the US, China, New Zealand, UK and Japan in senior executive and general manager roles, he is well respected and experienced.
109. BILL BARRY-COTTER:
MR Barry-Cotter moved to the Gold Coast 34 years ago to set up boat builder Riviera, which he sold in 2002. He started Maritimo the following year. The veteran sailor has also turned his focus to property development and holds a lot of sway on the northern Gold Coast.

108. RON CALVERT:
THE CEO of Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service oversaw the mammoth task of relocating a major working hospital in 2014. He manages an organisation with a budget of more than $1 billion and more than 6000 staff and growing. The hospital is among the nation’s fastest growing, with demand for services an ongoing challenge.
107. NEV PASK:
THIS perennial rich lister has spent the past 50 years building one of the country’s most successful property development operations, Pask Group, of which he is chairman. The Southport-based group has billions of dollars in current projects, including the half-billion-dollar Arise development in Brisbane’s Rochedale.
106: PROFESSOR PETER LEE:
THE Southern Cross University Vice Chancellor is overseeing a period of impressive growth for the northern New South Wales uni, which was ranked 401-500 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-16.
The university is rapidly growing its international student intake.
105. ROBYN ARCHER:
GOLD Coast City Council’s cultural consultant is one of the nation’s best known experts in the field and is an acclaimed artist in her own right. Whether or not the city’s finances will be able to help make the most of her talents remains to be seen, but the Coast has a passionate and knowledgeable cultural mind in Ms Archer.

104. LONGHURST FAMILY:
FAMILY patriarch and creator of Dreamworld John Longhurst has invested heavily in property. The family also owns a swath of other commercial properties. Son Rodney Longhurst is leading the family’s rapid marine industry expansion including a boating enterprise at Coomera.
103. MARK JEWELL:
THE chairman of Villa World and non-executive director of Oliver Hume Real Estate in Melbourne made his local name with Gold Coast development powerhouse Sunland Group, where he was chief operating officer and executive director. Well connected and respected.

102. RAY JAMES:
THE managing director and third largest shareholder of Broadbeach Waters-based oil and gas exploration company Icon Energy. Mr James has worked in the sector for more than 40 years and is a member of the Griffith Business School Advisory Council and Gold Coast Waterways Authority.
101. TREVOR DIETZ:
THE CEO of BPS Technology - the ASX-listed iteration of Bartercard – heads the Gold Coast’s newest listed company. Through Bartercard, BPS is the world’s largest trading platform and it has also expanded its software-based payment platforms.
100. DR JAMES WRIGHT:
FOUNDER of the Medi Aid Centre Foundation, that takes elderly people out of homelessness and into subsidised units in the heart of Surfers Paradise. More than 220 people live in the foundation’s 205 units.

THE cataract and refractive eye surgeon is among the world’s best in the business and has saved the sight of some of the biggest names in sport and business. The Southport surgeon pioneered intra-ocular lenses, laser eye surgeries and day surgery. Operates successful surgeries across the city.

98. PROFESSOR NED PANKHURST:

97. NEUMANN FAMILY:
OVER more than six decades, the Neumann family has built kilometres of the city’s canals, developed five major housing and industrial estates, supplied the steel for the Q1 and quarried the gravel that built the M1. The family continues to run some of the most successful companies in the country, employing more than 600 people.
96. PETER YARED:
THE Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce president is also general manager of the Grand Chancellor hotels in Brisbane, Palm Cove and Surfers Paradise.

THIS popular restaurateur has combined his two loves of food and family to create two of the Gold Coast’s best-loved restaurants, Hellenika and The Fish House. He’s also one of the best connected and savvy businesspeople on the Coast with a customer service culture that should be cloned and distributed to other city eating spots.
94. JAN MCCORMICK:
THE boss of Broadbeach Alliance is responsible for some of the city’s most popular festivals, the blues, country and jazz festivals. They are winners for the Broadbeach business precinct. Broadbeach Alliance promotes and manages the precinct and their stocks have risen considerably in the past two years.
93. DYAN CURRIE:
THE city’s new planning and environment boss came with a stellar CV after being in the game more than 20 years, including stints in Townsville and most recently working as manager of strategic planning and economic development at Toowoomba Regional Council.

THE city finance chair is prolific on social media, where he engages regularly
with curious and critical ratepayers. “Woj” is also well-connected in the business and property community.

91. JUSTIN CAMERON:
THE CEO of Burleigh-based Surf Stitch, one of the Coast’s newest and fastest-
growing companies. In the past year, the company has gone public and made four major acquisitions that are already profitable. The company’s combination of sports content and product sales has seen revenue grow 30 per cent year-on-year.
