couple have built their chilled pet food business into a global brand and one of the city’s biggest success stories.

HAS only been CEO of Gold Coast Airport for a few weeks, but takes over at a time of massive change. Her experience at the Atlanta and Sydney airports during the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games will be invaluable at Coolangatta in the lead-up to 2018.

88. JANELLE MANDERS:
THE managing partner of the Coast office of HLB Mann Judd Accountants and Business Advisors sits on some of the city’s most powerful boards, including the Gold Coast Suns Football Club. She is chair of the St Hilda’s Foundation and a former director of CareFlight (Qld) and Gold Coast TAFE.
87. DR MANNY POHL:
AS founder and CEO of Hyperion Asset Management, Manny Pohl oversaw the management of more than $3.2 billion, weathering the GFC and earning a swag of accolades. Was formerly a delegate to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund and is well-respected nationally in the finance sector and beyond.

86. DENNIS CHANT:
THE former managing director of Queensland Airports Ltd is a tourism veteran who is on the board of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, is a member of the World Governing Board of Airports Council International and is president of the Asia Pacific branch of the Airports Council International.
85. MURRAY D’ALMEIDA:
THE founder of city franchise business giant Retail Food Group is now independent non-executive chairman of BPS Technology. He is also director of Beacon Hill Resources, the Gold Coast Light Rail Advisory, trustee of the Currumbin Wildlife Foundation and more.
84. BRUCE MATHIESON:
THE poker machine and hotel magnate has a house at Mermaid Beach and an estimated $610 million in the bank. Among his more recent successes is a hefty stake in listed pharmaceutical company Mayne Pharma, whose shares have doubled in value this year. If he is calling, you’re going to pick up the phone.
83. JESINTA CAMPBELL:
THE 24-year-old former Miss Universe Australia is much more than a pretty face, using her name and public profile to speak passionately about social issues including mental illness and domestic violence. She is also in great demand for speaking and modelling appearances, has a hefty social media following and runs her own business.

82. DARRYL KELLY:
THE successful businessman is the financial saviour of the Gold Coast Titans — twice — but you won’t hear him talk about how important he is to the club and the wider city. The modest, yet shrewd and friendly bloke is as well-liked as he is wealthy.
81. TRISH HOGAN:
THE CEO of Pindara Private Hospital has spent more than 38 years in the health sector and also has a sharp business mind. Last year she opened the hospital’s $50 million expansion, bringing the hospital’s bed capacity to 335 and establishing a world-class neuroscience unit. A key leader in the city’s expanding private health sector.
80. MARTIN WINTER:
THE Gold Coast Tourism CEO was a strong advocate of free public Wi-Fi to help tourists promote the Coast, an initiative the council has backed. He has overseen one of the best tourist seasons in years and is a strong advocate for developing the Broadwater. Has a renewed focus on attracting international visitors.
79. TERRY JACKMAN:
THE Hedges Avenue high-flyer, cinema chain owner and tourism identity maintains clout in business and political circles. As chairman of the National Cinema Operators Australasia, he is a vocal advocate of tougher penalties for illegal downloaders. A key figure in local boards in the city, including Bond University.

78. CHRIS MILLS:
THE new CEO of Queensland Airports Ltd is responsible for the Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa airports. The former GM of Economic Development Queensland and manager for Brisbane’s Southbank Corporation, Mr Mills is well connected in business, government and tourism and will oversee the airport redevelopment.
77. SHANE O’REILLY:
THE managing director of O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat is among the most influential tourism identities on the Coast. He is Chairman of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and has also served as a director of Gold Coast Tourism, the Queensland Wine Industry Association, Tourism Queensland and more.

76. DEREK CRONIN:
A FORMIDABLE commercial litigator, the Bond University graduate is an advocate of marriage equality and has been active on boards including the Queensland Aids Council, Project for Homeless Youth and Small Business Association.
75. SALLY PEARSON:
SHE had hearts in mouths across the nation taking gold for hurdles at London’s 2012 Olympics. Last year she was given an Order of Australia Medal and she is the face of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and the Animal Welfare League of Queensland.

74. NEERAJ CHADHA:
THE general manager of the Surfers Paradise Marriott Hotel since 2012, Mr Chadha has brought a wealth of five-star experience to the city. He is working to put the Marriott, one of the city’s finest hotels, back on top and looking to capture a bigger share of booming markets in India, China and Indonesia.
73. BERN YOUNG:
THE feisty and funny ABC breakfast presenter has enjoyed an impressive media career and is a strong advocate for the city. Well-connected in business and politics with a rarely-seen independent, high-level grasp on the city’s key issues. 72. PAUL CALLANDER:
THE general manager of operations for Dreamworld, WhiteWater World and Skypoint has decades of experience in taking care of the finances and management of the city’s theme parks. After leaving Village Roadshow he went to rivals Ardent, where he’s been for 15 years. Mr Callander is also a director of Surfers Paradise Alliance.
71. ROD POWER:
THE long-time news director and chief of staff at Channel 9 Gold Coast has been a mentor to dozens of journos and commands respect across the country as the local television bureau chief.
Mr Power’s likeable personality has ensured he is well-connected in business and politics. Power by more than name.
