A PALM BEACH couple, who grew up in the Currumbin Valley and have young children, bought this property at auction for $3.5 million following competitive bidding.

Selling agent Richard Snowden said the new owners wanted their kids to have a lifestyle where they could get dirty outside and climb trees, something they’ll easily be able to enjoy on this 2.3 ha estate. Previously owned by retired AFL star Jonathan Brown, this seven-bedroom, five-bathroom house sits atop flat land in the picturesque Currumbin Valley.

“Jonathan says his heart ached having to sell this magnificent property, but that now he’s moved down to Melbourne, he and his family wouldn’t be able to make the most of it,” Mr Snowden said.

“I showed about 40 interested buyers through the home and there were eight registered bidders at the auction. It sold for $3.5 million under the hammer.”

The property comprises two residences – a 70sq m Hamptons-inspired house and a 100sq m American-style barn – with features including soaring ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, sports bar, children’s wing, sandstone-edge pool and red gum timber floors. PRICE: $3.750 million

SOLD: February 8, 2018

INSTEAD of creating their dream home on an exclusive 1000sq m block of land in Sovereign Islands they already owned, a Gold Coast couple sold it to buy this unique property for $3.750 million.

Featuring stunning views of South Stradbroke Island, this luxury house exudes a European charm and features old church doors, floorboards and other exclusive furnishings imported from Europe.

Selling agent Amir Mian of Amir Mian Prestige Property Agents said no expense was spared during the original construction of the 815sq m home more than 10 years ago.

Featuring a turret made from 200 tonnes of stone, this five-bedroom, three-bathroom beauty has roof tiles sourced from France, a hi-tech security system as well as a sheltered pontoon.

In recent years it had been restored to its former glory and was repainted, the cedar doors and windows were restrained, European linens were draped floor-to-ceiling, and the garden and front yard was re-landscaped. The 100-year-old timber and Italian travertine tile floors were also restored.

Mr Mian said when the property came on the market, he had a couple in mind for it, so he sent a text message to them in New York and weeks later they bought it.

“They loved the home and they love the positioning and the wife has transformed it into something amazing with beautiful furniture and paintings. The photos really don’t do this majestic property justice.”

Mr Mian said a young Chinese-Australian couple, with wealthy parents, just missed out on the property.

Katrina Walsh, of Harcourts Coastal, said the home was architecturally-designed for its UK owners in 2007 and had a homely feel. She said it was the quality of construction that sold the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home to the Montesalvos.

Taking up only one-quarter of the block, the 1060sq m house is spread over two floors and features a gym, formal lounge with fireplace, wine cellar storage and a steam room. Outside amenities include established tropical gardens, a lit tennis court, a heated pool, four-car garage and spacious entertaining areas.
