Major Crash detectives are investigating two serious crashes in Adelaide’s north on Thursday.

Motorists have reported traffic is gridlocked as emergency services attend the scene of a serious crash at Angle Vale.

Police are investigating two serious crashes in Adelaide’s northern suburbs on Thursday morning, both which resulted in motorists being taken to hospital.

At about 7.30pm, police and emergency services were called to a crash between a car and a motorbike at the intersection of Angle Vale Rd and Riverbanks Rd at Angle Vale.

Police will allege that a motorbike collided with a car and then a traffic pole.

The rider, a 19-year-old Lewiston man was rushed to hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

The driver of the car, a 39-year-old woman, and her passengers were not physically injured in the crash.

The crash caused major delays in traffic, with Riverbanks Rd closed in both directions but has since reopened.

Major Crash officers attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation into the crash.

Later in the morning, another serious crash involving multiple cars in Adelaide’s northern-suburbs caused peak-hour traffic chaos, with a main road being closed.

About 9.40am on Thursday police and emergency services were called to a multiple car crash on Hampstead Rd and Taunton Rd.

One of the drivers, a 26-year-old Stepney man, was rushed to hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.

His injuries are not considered to be not life threatening.

Traffic diversions were but roads have since reopened.
