A woman was stabbed in Adelaide’s north in the early hours of Tuesday morning — with shocked friends saying they had no idea anything was wrong until police swarmed their front yard.

Emergency services were called to McIntyre Rd, Salisbury East around 6am on June 10 after reports of a stabbing.

A 42-year-old woman from Ovingham was found bleeding with a serious wound to her head.

She was rushed to hospital in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.

It’s understood the woman had been hanging out at a friend’s house on McIntyre Rd the night before, along with a group that included the man now accused of attacking her.

The pair left together earlier that morning a friend of the victim said.

Shantel, one of the residents and victim’s friends, said she and others had gone for “a little ride” with the victim and the alleged attacker before returning home Tuesday morning.

“Then she told me, ‘Sis, I’m going back home.’ I said, ‘OK, that’s good.’ They both left, and we locked the gate,” she said.

Shantel said she didn’t know what happened between them after they walked off.

“They must’ve had a fight,” she said.

Another resident said the man returned alone around 6am and jumped the fence.

“I opened the door for him and asked why he was by himself,” the housemate said.

Minutes later, police arrived and the street was swarmed with officers and crime scene tape.

“We didn’t even know anything had happened until the cops showed up,” Shantel said.

“It was a total shock.”

Police allege the man, who was known to the woman, attacked her before fleeing in her car.

He was later arrested at the property on McIntyre Rd without incident.

“I was worried, but she’s all right,” Shantel said.

“She’s in hospital — her younger sister called me to let me know she’s doing okay.”
