Man and woman charged over Morphett Vale home invasion

A pregnant adult entertainer accused of attempted murder and filming her boyfriend as he allegedly attacked her client has been granted bail.

Nitika Peacock, 21, was released on home detention bail by Supreme Court Justice Rachael Gray on Monday after saying she was “made” to knock on the door of 27-year-old Jared Hocking’s Morphett Vale property at the direction of her jealous boyfriend and father-to-be Bowen Gregory Milne.

Mr Milne, 22, is then alleged to have chased Mr Hocking through the house wielding a knife with another man – the ensuing chaos left him with a perforated lung sustained from stab wounds.

Prosecutors told the court they weren’t opposed to Ms Peacock’s bail application.

She is yet to enter any pleas to aggravated serious criminal trespass and attempted murder, but flagged to the court the charges were “contested”.

Last Friday, the court heard Ms Peacock, of Christie Downs, was working for an “adult entertainment business” when she was called to Mr Hocking’s Morphett Vale about 4am on March 27 as a “topless waiter”.

There, the court heard Ms Peacock “talked for an hour” with Mr Hocking, before returning home – to the annoyance of her partner and co-accused Mr Milne.

Joanne Liptak, for Ms Peacock, told Justice Gray that Mr Milne “knew of” Mr Hocking – and he had been told the two “did more than just talk”, which Ms Peacock vehemently denied.

At 11.42pm the next night, Ms Peacock, wearing a pink dressing gown. was picked up by Mr Milne and allegedly told they were going to go “get drinks” but, just after midnight, the car arrived at Mr Hocking’s property.

Ms Liptak alleged Ms Peacock – still wearing the gown – was forced to knock on the front door to get Mr Hocking to “come out and apologise”.

When he came to the door, Mr Milne and another co-accused Joshua Allan House, 27, are alleged to have chased him through the hallway of his home – brandishing a knife, crowbar and machete.

Both men are yet to enter any pleas to aggravated serious criminal trespass and attempted murder, while Mr Milne is also charged with aggravated cause harm with intent.

On Monday, Justice Gray granted Ms Peacock’s bail application but prohibited her from contacting her co-accused – either directly or indirectly.

Justice Gray did, however, allow Ms Peacock to communicate with Mr Milne – with approval from her supervising officer – to give him updates on her pregnancy.

The court previously heard that – while in custody on remand – Ms Peacock had found out she was eight weeks pregnant.

She will reside with a family friend “like an aunty to her” at a property in Magill, and return to court in July.
