Motorcyclist stabbed during serious road rage incident at Blair Athol

A manhunt is underway after a young motorcyclist was stabbed in the back during a terrifying road rage incident at a northern suburbs traffic lights.

A young motorcycle rider was stabbed in the back during a serious road rage incident at Blair Athol last night.

Police and paramedics were called to Main North Road, at the Gepps Cross intersection on Saturday at about 9pm after witnesses reported a violent altercation had occurred at the traffic lights.

The altercation was between a black Volkswagen Golf driver and the rider of a black Suzuki motorbike.

When emergency services arrived, they found the rider of the motorbike, a 21-year-old Pooraka man, with a stab wound to his lower back.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Volkswagen was last seen travelling north on Port Wakefield Road.

Police have since spoken to the registered owner of the VW and have seized the vehicle for forensic examination.

The investigation is ongoing and the driver is yet to be arrested.

Mercedes set ablaze in early hours of morning

A Mercedes Benz was set alight at Kurralta Park in the early hours of the morning.

Police and MFS were called to Beauchamp Street after reports a car was on fire in the street at about 4.20am on Sunday.

When emergency services arrived the found a Mercedes Benz engulfed in flames.

MFS commenced battling the blaze while police canvassed the area for witnesses and CCTV footage.

Checks revealed the car had been stolen from a Woodville home sometime between 3.30am and 4.20am.

Crime Scene Investigators will be attending the scene this morning to assist with the investigation.

Alleged drink driver caught with kids in the car

A speeding drink driver was caught at MacDonald Park last night with children in the car.

Police were conducting speed detection duties on Curtis Road when they clocked a Toyota Hilux ute travelling west at 93km/h in a 60km/h zone about 11.45pm on Saturday.

Police were able to stop the ute and submitted the driver, a 48-year-old Lewiston man, to a breath test.

He allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.181.

Of great concern to police was that there were two children in the car at the time of the offence.

The man was reported for drink driving, lost his licence on the spot for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.
