An ATM at the centre of a police investigation has been discovered some distance from where it was allegedly stolen in an early morning Adelaide Hills ram raid.

The empty and damaged machine was found on Checker Hill Rd in Kersbrook about 11am on Sunday after it was stolen from a Cudlee Creek licenced premises on Gorge Rd the previous day.

Police say the small amount of money inside the ATM was gone and the machine was returned to the victim.

Crime Scene Investigators attended the scene to gather forensic evidence.

Police were called to a business after an employee discovered it had been broken into and the ATM stolen about 6am on Saturday morning.

Footage revealed the break-in and theft occurred about 4.30am and a white Mazda had been used to ram the front doors before two people were seen stealing the ATM.

Half an hour before police attended the scene of the break-in, emergency services were called to Angas Creek Rd after reports of a white Mazda on fire.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze and by this time police had received a report of the break-in.

Checks had revealed the car had been stolen from Brompton in the past week.

Just three hours later at 8.30am, a member of the public called police after they located the front of an ATM on Tippett Rd at Millbrook. It was seized by police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

Meantime, a man tracked his own stolen car and assisted police in a chase throughout Adelaide on Friday night.

Police were contacted by the man after reports his Toyota ute had been stolen from his business at Dry Creek just after 9pm.

He told police he was tracking the vehicle on an app on his phone and that it was in Chain of Ponds heading toward Kersbrook.

The man gave live updates to police about the position and even speed of the car as it travelled throughout Adelaide.

PolAir picked up the vehicle travelling along Mount Gawler Rd before it stopped on the corner of Kersbrook Rd.

The car continued along before heading west on Black Top Rd and through the Kersbrook township as patrols got into position and deployed road spikes at the intersections with Kylie Cres, Hillbank.

Patrols successfully used road spikes on the ute and, as it neared the intersection of Main North Rd, where police were waiting, the driver allegedly drove at and collided with a patrol vehicle.

No one was injured in the collision.

The 30-year-old male driver and 35-year-old female passenger, both from Edwardstown, were both arrested without incident.

They have been charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and the man was further charged with driving dangerously to escape police pursuit.

They were both bailed to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on July 31 and the car was towed from the scene.
