Man, 30, arrested after allegedly spitting on Rundle Mall security guard in armed hold-up
A man allegedly spat on and threatened an Adelaide CBD security guard with a taser after they busted him for stealing items.

A CBD supermarket security guard has been allegedly spat on in a terrifying armed robbery.
Just before 7pm on Thursday, a 30-year-old man entered Romeo’s Foodland at Rundle Mall and after allegedly pocketing items he tried to walk out without paying.

Footage shows the security guard confronting the man, before allegedly being spat on in the face.
Moments later, the same man renters the store to confront the security guard, thrusting a taser at him.
The security guard was not injured.
The suspect was then seen running east on Rundle St.
Police were quickly on the scene and arrested man from Blair Athol.
Romeo’s Foodland told 9News that “dangerous incidents are becoming too common” and hold “ongoing concerns for staff and customers”.
A shopper also said that the scene was “disturbing” and that security guards “don’t get paid enough to put up with that”, while another said the taser was “no different to a gun”.
SDA Secretary Josh Peak said the “disgusting vile act was something retail workers and security guards have to put with all too often”.
“We need to make sure the authorities, including the police, are continuing to provide a high level of patrol to that area to make sure people aren’t hurt,” he said.
The man has been charged with numerous offences including robbery, unlawful possession, prohibited act with human biological material, possess controlled drug and possess prohibited weapon.
He has been refused bail and appear will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later on Friday.
