LIV Golf will return to Adelaide’s Grange Golf Club in April next year as new data reveals the inaugural event injected $65 million into the SA economy.

Premier Peter Malinauskas and LIV Golf chief Greg Norman on Saturday morning confirmed the second instalment of the tournament named World’s Best Golf Event of 2023 by the World Golf Awards would be on April 26-28, 2024.

“The best golf tournament of the year, anywhere in the world, was right here in Adelaide, and it went off,” the Premier said.

“We’re so happy to be able to partner with the Grange Golf Club again to bring the event to life, and there are a lot of hard working volunteers who I tip my hat to who did the state very proud.

“Last year at the first LIV event, people were a bit unsure about what to expect, but the moment it got underway, it lit up the sky and captured the world’s attention.

“It was an absolute win for the economy.”

Norman echoed the Premier’s sentiments.

“The inaugural LIV Golf Adelaide showed the world how global audiences are embracing LIV Golf, which is breathing new life into the sport,” Norman said.

“It was the highlight tournament of our league’s first official season and a historic demonstration of competition, entertainment and fanfare that golf fans deserve.

“South Australia knows how to put on a show, and we look forward to seeing The Grange Golf Club set yet another elevated benchmark for the league as we raise the bar even higher in 2024.”

Hospitality tickets for the event go on sale November 15.

Pre-sale access to grounds passes will be available on December 5 before the public ticket sales open on December 6.

“The inaugural LIV Golf Adelaide was a global success ... LIV Golf delivered for South Australia, filling hotel rooms, restaurants and pumping $65 million into our state’s economy,” Mr Malinauskas said.

“With dates now set for 2024, I have no doubt there will be many excited fans from interstate and overseas booking their trip to South Australia.

“Hosting the nation’s first LIV Golf tournament and playing home to the now legendary hole-in-one by Chase Koepka at our iconic watering hole, these history-making moments got people looking at Adelaide and talking about our state.

An economic impact report by YouGov Sport on the 2023 LIV Golf Adelaide found the event injected $64.9 million in direct expenditure into the SA economy and 43,253 visitor nights in Adelaide.

More than 77,000 people attended the 2023 event and 41 per cent of ticket purchasers were from outside of SA.

The television broadcast of the event reached more than 276 million across 69 territories.

“What an incredible result for Australia’s first LIV Golf tournament, and it was right here in South Australia,” said South Australian Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison.

“I am thrilled we have dates locked in the calendar for the 2024 tournament, with next year shaping up to be another blockbuster for major events in South Australia.”

LIV Golf’s star-studded, international field will return in 2024, including Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson.

The Premier said the South Australian Tourism Commission would work with the state government to look at increasing domestic flights into Adelaide around the event.

“We want to make sure that airline tickets are accessible, and we are looking for airlines to increase their capacity coming into the state,” Mr Malinauskas said.

Hospitality tickets are due to go on sale from November 15, with public sales kicking off on December 6.
