Ten businesses – including a massive, high-end health club with its own creche and juice bar – will open at two new Prospect Rd retail developments.

Dessert vendors, a cafe and one of the state’s “classiest” gym chains are among 10 retail stores set to open at Prospect over the next few months.

The first four openings are scheduled for late February and early March at the redeveloped old Foodland site on 85 Prospect Road.

Those are high-end gym Fitness Factory, St Louis House of Desserts, Prospect Rd’s first pub and an RSPCA op-shop. One more store has not yet been leased.

At a new, nearby five-storey apartment building on Prospect Road, The Harrington, six stores on the ground floor are set to open by mid-May.

These are pilates studio R3 Reform, cafe He Said, She Said, a frozen yoghurt bar, a restaurant that’s yet to be revealed and two stores not yet been leased.

85 Prospect Rd owner George Velentzas said he wanted “to create something exciting” at the two-storey retail building.

He said the Fitness Factory, occupying the entire second floor, would “probably be one of the classiest gyms available this year in Adelaide”.

Mr Velentzas said the high-end health club would boast a creche, cafe serving juices and protein shakes; steam and infra-red saunas, yoga and pilates classes, individual showers and quality Italian-made gym equipment.

The chain also has gyms in Lightsview and Mount Barker.

Mr Velentzas said the RSPCA op-shop was also a higher-end tenant selling designer clothes, similar to the charity’s Rundle St store.

“There’s no way I’d let just any op-shop in,” he said.

Prospect Hotel & Cellars, set to open in late February, will become Prospect Rd’s first pub, while the St Louis House of Desserts will become the local dessert chain’s 10th store in the state.

Mr Velentzas said plans to bring back a Foodland were abandoned because the site was too small.

The Harrington’s owner and developer, Kevin Chapley, directed questions to CBRE leasing agent Julia Pottenger, who said tenants had been chosen to reflect the quality of the “beautiful” building.

“We’ve been quite picky with who we put in as a tenant. We have rejected a few,” she said.

The proprietors of He Said, She Said, a popular Hyde Park cafe, have chosen the spot for a second branch of their cafe.

Mawson Lakes pilates studio R3 Reform will also open a second branch at The Harrington.

Ms Pottenger said all 55 apartments at The Harrington had been sold.

On Tuesday night, Prospect Council voted to spend $15,000 on marketing the tenants of the two buildings, including $1500 on collaborations with “real Adelaide influencers” such as @adelaidefoodclub, @Kwameduah, @fooddiary_adl and @adelaidefoodiary.
