A man has been arrested after what police have described as a bomb hoax at a Salisbury Plains McDonald’s restaurant on Wednesday night.

Police responded to the restaurant about 7.45pm after reports the man left a bag inside a fast-food restaurant after claiming it contained a bomb.

Employees and customers were evacuated from the McDonald’s on Saints Rd and patrols quickly detained the man.

Technicians from the Bomb Response Unit attended and determined that there were no explosives in the bag.

The 44-year-old-man from Parafield Gardens was arrested at the scene and charged with creating a false belief.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police said there were no reports of injuries, and emergency services stayed on the scene for several hours.
