A woman has been clocked at 171km/h – more than 60km/h over the limit – and three times over the legal alcohol limit during the peak of the busy Easter weekend traffic.

About 5.15pm on Monday, police received a few calls from motorists advising there was a black Ford Falcon being driven erratically and tailgating other vehicles on Dukes Highway at Keith.

Police saw the car heading towards Keith and clocked it travelling at 171km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Police stopped the car and submitted the driver – a 31-year-old woman from Bordertown – to a breath test where she provided a positive result of 0.185, a reading more than three times over the legal limit.

Senior constable Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes told ABC breakfast radio police were targeting this kind of dangerous behaviour.

“Well done to the other motorists for reporting her for us to be able to intercept her and get her off the road,” she said.

“All these people on the highway, heading home after the lovely long weekend – this is exactly the person we want to be targeting.”

She was reported for drink driving and driving at a speed dangerous and she was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence.

She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
