Dismissed sports presenter and former footballer Warren Tredrea is set to host a popular radio show following a 12-month absence from the media due to his vaccination status.

The FIVEaa Sports Show has welcomed AFL Hall of Famer and former Port Adelaide football club captain Tredrea while regular host Stephen Rowe takes a few weeks off to celebrate his wedding anniversary.

Co-hosting with Tim Ginever, Tredrea’s appointment marks the first time there will be two former Port Adelaide players hosting the program.

“After what seemed like eternity on the Sports Show with Cornesy, KG and an endless list of Crows people we’re finally getting our own back,” Tredrea said.

“After a break, I’m strapped and ready to go as the FIVEaa Sub … I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Ginever tells Crows fans Tredrea’s position is “not permanent”.

“Rowey will be back in no time to balance the ship,” he said.

“In the meantime, Tredders will call it as it is on all teams and sporting moments.”

Tredrea’s appointment follows a lengthy court battle with his former employer Channel 9 who dismissed the former football player after he failed to comply with directions to vaccine against Covid.

The media personality was dismissed from his $192,500 a year job with Channel 9 in January 2022.

Documents released by the Federal Court show Tredrea is claiming he was unlawfully dismissed from his position and should be paid out the remaining $176,458 of his contract and up to 30 years of pay for the missed opportunity of employment – at least $5.775m.

A preliminary trial was held on March 2. The trial is scheduled for July 1 to last for five days.
