A stretch of a major northern suburbs connecting road will be closed nightly for works to resurface and remediate the tarmac.

Waterloo Corner Rd, between Heaslip Rd and Ascot Dr, will be closed nightly between 7pm and 6am starting Tuesday.

It comes after the Department of Infrastructure and Transport launched its new Northern Adelaide Transport Study earlier this year.

A detour will be in place via Salisbury Hwy, Kings Rd and Port Wakefield Rd, as the works progress.

Access to Bolivar Rd across Waterloo Corner Rd is expected to be affected in the short-term but is expected to remain open for the majority of the works.

Local access is expected to be maintained during works, however the department’s website said some short-term property access and on-street parking may be impacted.

Residents are expected to have been contacted by the project team in advance if affected.

The resurfacing works, including the removal of existing and relaying of new asphalt, are expected to be completed by mid-march if weather permits.

Bus stops in the area might be affected during the works, with updates to be provided by Adelaide Metro online and with signing at stops.

Speed restrictions will remain until line marking is completed on the new surface, and shoulder works will be required in the following weeks upon completion.

The department recommend that pedestrians and cyclists find alternate routes during the works, with signs to be posted to guide them as work continues.

Emergency service vehicles will have access at all times.

The department’s website said that during the works there “might be some noisy disruptions form time to time” but workers will “do our best to keep noise to a minimum”.

They also warn “some odours” might be noticeable, but said it was normal during these kinds of works.

The department said any traffic management queries during the night-time working hours should be directed to contractor Downer, on 1300 012 413.
