Child hit by car on Wattle St, Fullarton, during school drop-off

A child has been hit by a car outside a Fullarton school during the early-morning drop-off on the same stretch of road a cyclist was killed on last year.

A child has been hit by a car outside Fullarton’s Sunrise Christian School on a stretch of road a cyclist was killed on last year.

SA Ambulance officers units were dispatched to Wattle St after reports a child was hit by a car during school drop-off on Monday morning.

Kylie Clark, Sunrise Christian School Principal, said she was aware that one of the school’s students was involved in a traffic incident.

“We have been informed that the student has not sustained any significant injuries,” she said.

“We have been in communication with the student’s family and will continue to provide support to both the student and their family.”

She said she was unable to comment further on the specifics of the incident as it was subject to an investigation by SA Police.

“We have written to the school community to inform them of the incident with the safety and wellbeing of our students being our highest priority.”

The school was also continuing discussions with Unley Council regarding road safety along Wattle St, he said.

A police officer could be seen taking photos near the school on Monday morning.

The safety of the road outside the school has been in the spotlight after a man died after he was hit by a car close to the school in December.
