A man has been arrested for an alleged assault after shocked neighbours described witnessing a separate violent street fight in upmarket Parkside.

Police and ambulance crews responded to reports of a dispute with a risk of violence at Robsart St about 9.30pm.

A resident on the street, Sarah described the ordeal as “petrifying”.

“I’ve been here six years and we have police attend every second week,” she told The Advertiser.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, described the fight as “brutal and heartless”.

“It was terrible and tragic for everyone involved,” he said.

A man at the address was found with minor cuts to his head and face and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have not laid any charges relating to the brawl.

However, in a twist, police later received information from a woman who claimed she had been the victim of an assault at the same address earlier in the evening.

Police reviewed CCTV and will allege the man who had been taken to hospital had assaulted a 23-year-old Edwardstown woman at the address earlier in the evening.

The alleged victim sustained minor scratches and didn’t receive medical treatment.

Police arrested the 30-year-old Parkside man and charged him with aggravated assault.

According to police, it is believed the man’s injuries were as a result of the earlier fight at the address with the alleged victim.

SA Police commissioner Grant Stevens said after investigations, police determined there were no weapons involved in the incident.

“My understanding is a male adult has been arrested as a result of a domestic violence related incident,” he said.

The man is expected to be bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 6.
